How We Work Together
Identifying the Reasons for Coaching. The My Me process begins with identifying the reasons you are exploring coaching. The reason can be quite specific, for example you are seeking coaching due to the end of a relationship or making a career change. Sometimes, the reasons are less concrete and about making a decision to end a relationship or make a job or career change. Sometimes, people come to coaching to explore a deeper relationship with themselves. And some come to coaching as a part of recovery or to step away from maladaptive coping mechanisms. There are a myriad of reasons and situations that people find themselves wanting coaching. Identifying the areas you want to address is the first step.
Session
Work
Each 60 minute session is focused on you and the area you have indicated that you want to address. As your coach, my role is to be present, hear what you are saying, reflect areas of conflict, help identify maladaptive coping mechanisms (unhelpful tools) and offer the perspective of an outside observer- seeing a situation with no attachment to the event or outcome.
We encourage perspective shifts and identify tools which assist in developing your awareness of the thoughts and beliefs obscuring your connection to Your You and hinder your ability to meet your underlying needs. The tools may include ideas for practice outside of sessions and are specifically designed for each individual. Many of the tools we discuss and utilize are oriented to increasing awareness, presence and learning to be your own outside observer to better understand your needs and overcome the obstacles standing in your way.
Coaching
Goals
A beautiful fact of humans is that we are all different, yet all have the same needs. We have different methods of meeting those needs, some may already be helpful and adaptive, some may not. Through the coaching process at My Me, the goal is to help you find and build tools for Your You that are flexible, that continue on past the coaching experience and leave you prepared to create your own tools effectively.
Our goal is to build tools that strengthen the pillars of Your You: your inner wise guide, intuition, inner strength, sense of purpose and inner caretaker. Sometimes, in the course of doing all the things we think we “should” do in life, we become disconnected from one of these parts of ourselves. This can lead to imbalances in our thinking, beliefs and actions. Bringing awareness to our thoughts, exploring where we feel uncertain in our decision making, or where we see ourselves doing things that no longer serve us can expose an imbalance, a part of us that is underdeveloped. Once we begin to see these, without self-criticism or judgments, we can get to the work of shifting our thoughts and building these inner components to serve as our compass. The work is to effectively ground yourself in Your You.
Discovering Your You. Every client engagement begins with a complimentary 60 minute consultation.
I believe that it is essential to the coaching process that you have the opportunity to interview me, ask questions, get a sense of who I am and how I do things before committing. Similarly, I may have questions for you and want to ensure that I will be a suitable fit for your needs. It makes no sense to pursue coaching work if there is a mismatch in understanding the work involved.
